by the district and is not part of, or recognized as being part of, the educational
processes of the district.

3.
Guidelines
Upon receipt of requests from school personnel for leaves of absences without pay
for the purpose of conducting or chaperoning such travel groups during the school
year, the district will consider such requests on a case-by-case basis, taking into
account the educational needs of the district and the necessary personnel required to
meet such needs.
Pol. 204
Upon receipt of requests from students to participate in travel abroad during the
school year, students will be considered for excused absences for this purpose,
limited to the number of days consistent with Board policy.
The district shall assume no liability for any individual, whether student or district
employee, for participation in or on group travel plans during the school year and,
consistent therewith and as a condition to approval for students' attendance, will
require a request from both the student and his/her parents/guardians, together with a
release of liability to the district from both the student and his/her parents/guardians,
relating to all aspects of such group travel.
Consideration of requests relating to group travel during the school year by either
students or district employees will be evaluated by the district with preliminary
concern for the educational process and the impact, if any, upon that process because
of such travel.
